YORKSHIRE BULL TERRIER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - 1ST MARCH 2020 - Judge: Mr SJ Paterson (Golitha)
I would like to thank the committee of Yorkshire Bull Terrier Club for inviting me to judge at their March Championship Show. The hospitality and organisation were exemplary. A big thank you must go to the exhibitors for allowing me the privilege of going over their exhibits. A special mention must go to my ring stewards, who ensured everything ran smoothly. As always at this club, a warm and friendly atmosphere was present throughout the day and the entry and turnout was superb. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of judging this show, my first-time awarding Challenge Certificates, so thank you all for the honour and the opportunity.

Olliebrad Some Might Say,(Mr D Parkington)21-month-oldwell marked brindle & white dog. Super show dog always on his toes and never stops showing, absolutely commands your attention from the moment he enters the ring. Very well balanced throughout. He has one of those heads you must get up close to, to fully appreciate the fill, width and depth he has, all with a sweeping profile to boot. Neat well set ears, although I would prefer a keener eye. Correct mouth, long arched neck leading to a straight front and tight feet. Deep in brisket, short inback, with a good top-line and well angulated rear quarters. Moved reasonably well in front a little closer behind, but still with a jaunty air. His many virtues and breed type were not to be denied. Both he and his handler have a great understanding and they have formed a super partnership together. It was a pleasure to award him the CCfrom some very strong opposition. DCC
Clansmann Wicked Upriser,(Mr & Miss K & A Jowers)Beautiful 15.5-month-old white bitch with black brindle ear, extrudes breed type. What can I say, my find of the day, for me this young bitch ticked all the boxes!Strong head that has profile, width, depth and fill. Her ears are bang on top, batman like. A dark tiny oblique eye gives her a first class varmity expression, all with a perfect mouth. A strong yet feminine neck leads into a very good front and correct lay of shoulder, she has ample bone for her type and her feet are cat like. Good spring of rib with a deep brisket and nice tuck up. Short backed with a correct top-line. Her rear-quarters are well angulated and developed. She moved well both ways as you would expect from her super construction. She can, on occasion, be rather reluctant to use her ears, but that did not detract from the very many virtues she undoubtedlyhas. When her attention is grabbed and she uses her ears, she is the perfect balance of type, quality and soundness, indeed, a picture to behold. Handler just needs to find the key to her using her ears more. I was more than happy to award her BCC & BIS.
Serenbull Soul Defender,(Miss & Mr A & P Gardner & Patterson)Mature 9.5-month-old white dog: Lovely head, enough profile& finish withgoodwidth, fill and depth. Well placed eye and ears giving a good expression. Correct mouth, strong neck leading to a good front with tight feet, deep brisket with good tuck up, powerful rear quarters with well-developed second thigh, can on occasion carry his tail a little high, however, a well-balanced dog throughout andhe moved withpurpose and drive for a youngster. Well presented & handled. BP

2. Hollbonnie White Knight at Inversu,(Mr & Mrs M & S Chapman)Upstanding 11-month-old white dog, Good head with sweeping profile with ample width, depth & fill. Mouth-correct. Keen eye & good ear placement giving a super expression whenhe uses his ears. Strong neck leading to a straight front with ample bone & substance. Feet could be tighter. Level top-line and good tail set with well-developed rear quarters. Movement was difficult to assess as he did not co-operate with his handler, none the less, like 1 a very promising pup.

1. Meilow Most Wanted,(Mr & Mrs L & M Grieves)15 month old cobby tricolour dog with good bone and substance for size, strong head with good profile & finish, great width, depth and fill, well placed eye would prefer ears more on top, however he still has the desired expression.Correct mouth, good front with tidy feet, deep in brisket with good tuck up, short coupled with well-developed rear quarters and good tail set. He moved true both ways and held his top line. Well handled.
2. Kenynten Prince Perfect,(Mr & Mrs M & L Parry)15-month white dog with black brindle ears. Cobby dog with enough bone and substance for size, gentle profile, enough fill under the eye and good width of muzzle, well placed dark eye andneat ears offer a good expression, good mouth, strong neck with ample fore-chest, a tad short in upper arm and tends to turn his feet out. short enough coupled,good bend of stifle and tail-set. Moved a little loose in front and close behind.

1. Brookbully Bedilum,(Mr J Emmett)A very well-balanced white dog with well filledand turnedhead,good width & depth, small piercing eye, with neat well-set ears. Correct canines with one incisor level. Lovely strong neckline leading to straight front with neat feet. Deep chest enough bone for size. Strong short back with good rear quarters. Moved well in front a little close behind, held his top-line well.
2. Last Minute Larry,(Messer’s & Mrs P & R & E Levitt)13-month-old white dog with black brindle head markings. Head has a broken profile and lacks somewhat in fill, width and depth, good reach of neck, would prefer a better lay of shoulder & tighter feet, level top-line, rather straight in stifle and moved accordingly, better coming than going.
Novice Dog, 1 (0)
1. Bruneye Bismark For Casodon,(Mr & Mrs D & C Pleasant’s)18-month-old brindle & white heavyweight stallion of a dog. His head has plenty of fill and width but lacks a little in profile. Good eye placement and ear carriage, mouth undershot, strong neck and fore-chest, deep brisket, feet could be tighter, a tad long-cast with powerful rear quarters and good tail-set. Movement a bit erratic and hard to assess because of his sheer power, he makes it difficult for his handler to control him on the move.
Post Graduate Dog, 9 (1)
1. Bluepoint Patchogue At Miandale,(Mr & Mrs M & A Dodd)2.5-year-old white dog with tricolour eye patch& ear. This dog has improved as he’s matured, a very well-balanced compact terrier type. Strong well filled and gently turned head with enough width and depth, good expression and neat well-placed ears. Beautiful straight front, good layback of shoulder. Enough bone and substance for size. Deep brisket and good tuck up, excellent make and shape, well balanced throughout with a short back and ample rear quarters, with good tail-set. Moved well both ways with drive & purpose. On his toes throughout and did not take his eyes off his handler from the moment they entered the ring. All he wanted to do was please and he did just that.
2. Friedrich Vom Welpersberg (ATCAW01943DEU),(Mr & Mrs R & A Seydewitz)2 year 8-month-old white dog with small brindle eye patch. Absolutely stonking head, lovely profile, not an indentation in sight, bags of fill, depth and width, proper rugby ball of a head. Well placed small eye, good ear placement, giving a wicked expression. Correct mouth, strong neck, leading to a good front with good round bone and tight feet, good depth of brisket beautiful body lines. Powerful rear quarters with well-developed second thigh, movement was difficult to assess as he played his handler up somewhat, when it came time to strut his stuff. A close decision with 1 and on another day, if he co-operated with his handler on movement, he could well reverse the placings. Beautifully turned out.

2. Vetsbullies Keep a Knockin into Megaville,(Mr & Mrs P & A Blair)2-year-old brindle & white upstanding stallion of a dog, who despite his size is remarkably well balanced. Long sweeping head with enough profile, would prefer more fill & width under the eye, but has depth in abundance. Oblique eye and well-placed earsdeliver a super expression. Correct mouth.A well-muscled elegant neck lead into good shoulder placement and correct top-line. Straight front andsuper tight feet for such a big upstanding dog. Deep in brisket with elbows well tucked in. Well angulated powerful rear quarters and god tail-set. Moved freely covering the ground with ease. Well-presented and handled.

Open Dog, 13 (2)
1. Bobuddy Warhammer at Cwmdulais,(Mr & Mrs D & H Hall)A super 21-month-old white dog full of breed type and extremely well balanced throughout. Excellent power packed and well filled head with tremendous depth. Small oblique eye and neat well- placed ears deliver a wicked expression. Correct mouth, strong muscled neck, good lay of shoulder and super round bone. Ample fore-chest and depth of brisket, elbows well tucked in and tidy cat like feet. Short coupled with strong rear quarterswith good angulationsand correct tail-set. Moved well in front just a tad close behind, but with drive. Lost his spark a little in the line-up, but pushed the CC winnerall the way, a close call between the two. Surely a champion in waiting. RDCC
2. Ch Selbullie Dark Side of Blazinbullys,(Mr & Mrs S & R Mathison)3.5-year-old, a very typey masculine well-balanced brindle and white dog. Powerful sweeping profile to head with plenty of fill, width & depth. Punishing expression with small oblique eye, with ears bang on top. Strong neck leading to a deep chest and well sprung rib, ample round bone with neat tidy feet. Short coupled with adequate rear angulations and good tail-set. Moved a little wide coming and a tad close behind butcovering the ground with ease. Another super showman and very well presented and handled.
3. Beast Odi Et Amo (ATCAX00692POL,(Ms AE Bartkowiak) Almost 3-year-old white dog with brindle ears. I cannot let the opportunity go by without a mention for this boy. Another very good dog with the correct balance of type and quality. He has a lovely strong head, with depth,which is totally filled, not a dent or blemish to be seen, another rugby ball of a head, with a good profile. Well placed ears and tiny oblique eye giving him the most wicked of expressions. Excellent straight front, with good round bone and cat like feet. Good, well arched neck and a well-placed shoulder. Correct bodylines, a very typey well balanced dog. However, he has his own ideas on showing, which unfortunately makes him rather un-ruley in the ring. He plays his handler up constantly. Movement cannot be assessed because of his antics and he rules himself out of any higher accolades. If only his handler, or anyone for that matter, could find the key to controlling his bad behaviour, he would surely fly.

1. Ragnarok Balder at Polanca,(Miss & Mr L & T Sheppard & Howes) Super masculine red & white gent, just short of 12 years old, with only his greying whiskers giving his age away. Still commands the ring like the true professional he is. Never took his eye off his handler. A very well-balanced dog, who extrudes breed type. Good head with enough width, depth and fill with agentle sweeping profile, good eye and ear placement, strong neck leading to a good lay of shoulder, ramrod front with tidy feet.A good top line with strong rear quarters.His movement still, is a pleasure to behold. He strides out with drive and purpose; the youngsters should take note. His mouth is his Achilles heel, none the less, a quality well balanced typey dog who really enjoyed his day. Beautifully presented and well handled, a credit to his owners.

1. Topfuel Firecracker,(Mr S Potter)8.5-month-old red & white bitch. Quality upstanding girl in excellent condition. Lovely length of head with sweeping profile, small piercing well shaped eye, well placed ears offer a wicked expression,good width, depth & fill with a correct bite. Swan like neck leading to a decent front with enough bone and tidy feet. Good make and shape throughout give her a well-balanced appearance. Movement was adequate, but no more than expected at this age and will undoubtedly improve, a promising youngster. Well-presented and handled.
2. Blazinbullys Dark Star,(Mr & Mrs S & R Mathison) 6.5-month-old brindle & white bitch. Lost out to 1 on maturity. Lovely feminine head with gentle profile, keen eye and good ear-set, all be it with one slightly soft ear, when up delivers a good expression. Mouth correct, elegant neck decent front and tidy feet, not the bone of 1. Deep brisket and nice tuck up, slightly long cast, well bent stifles with good tail carriage. Moved ok in front a tad close behind, but again this should improve as she matures.

Well-presented and handled.

Good eye and ear placement, giving a good expression, mouth correct, lovely reach of neck, tidy front with a well-developed fore-chest, feet could be tighter, level top-line and short enough coupled, strong rear quarters with good bend of stifle, moved reasonably well both ways. Well-presented and handled.
2. Spartaite Devils Audacity,(Mr & Mrs DA & SM Hackett)Substantial 3-year old tricolour bitch. Full of bone and substance, a thick set bitch. Strong head with good profile, ears right on top, correct eye placement giving a good expression, mouth ok, strong neck, decent shoulder, ample fore-chest, straight front and deep brisket, appeared to dip slightly behind the withers, short enough coupled with good rear angulations and good tail-set. Movement was good both ways. Well handled as she can be a live one at times.

Lovely head with gentle sweeping profile, enough width depth and fill for her type. Good eye and ear placement, although eye could be keener. Incisors correct, canines worn and tight. Graceful neck, good front with enough bone for type, super cat feet, short coupled and strong rear quarters. Moved well both ways with ease. Very well presented and handled.
2. Laronbell’s Crimson Tide,(Mr & Mrs A & A Twyman) 19-month-old red and white elegant, upstanding bitch. Lovely feminine head with sweeping profile with enough depth, width and fill, ears bang on top, with a wicked eye for a coloured giving a very good expression, a lovely reach of neck going into correct shoulders, good front with adequate bone and tight feet. Well sprung ribs, good top-line, short enough backed, correct rear quarters and tail set. Moved well both ways and well- handled.
3. Mostahbull Moonshine (Mr & Mrs Thomas); Vhc. Ukusa Exxtravagant (Mr & Mrs Saunders)

1. Napier’s Labour of Love from Megaville,(Mr & Mrs P & A Blair)22-month-old white bitch with brindle ears. Very well-balanced bitch with a super strong head, lovely profile, with super width, depth and fill and a correct mouth. Oblique well set dark eye with neat ears offer a stunning expression. Strongelegant neck leading to a good lay of shoulder, ramrod front with good bone and neat cat like feet. Deep brisket with good spring of rib, good top-line short back and powerful well angulated rear quarters. Moved true both ways with drive and purpose. Very well presented and handled. A very promising show girl, I was pleased to award her the RBCC.
2. UKUSA Independanceday At Irazistabull,(Mr & Miss DP & S McDonagh & McLeish)
21-month-old black brindle & white bitch. Quality coloured bitch, very typey. Beautiful turned head with ample width, depth and fill. Neat well-placed ears and dark well-set eye give a stunning expression. Mouth is correct. Lovely elegant neck and good front, enough bone for size, with neat tidy feet. Super overall make and shape with good spring of rib and nice tuck up,lovely top-line and very well balanced throughout.Well-muscled rear quarters with a well-defined second thigh and correct tail-set. Shown and presented in lovely condition, very well handled.
3. Vetsbullies Killer Queen (Drs O & L Galla); Res. Garthbull Liberty Girl (M Poston); Vhc. Villensia Virtuoso (L Villensia)

1. Bilboen Harlee Quinn,(Mr & Mrs J & A Young) 2-years-7-month old white bitch with red ears. Upstanding and statuesque bitch of quality. Beautiful egg-shaped head with enough width, depth and fill, neat ears and tiny eye offer good expression. Pincer bite. Lovely elegant neck with decent front with ample bone for size, feet could be tighter. Good depth and spring of rib, good top-line. Well angulated and muscled rear quarters with correct tail-set. Very well balanced and soundly made throughout, she moved quite well both ways. Expertly handled.
2. Bullyon Absolute Measure at Copabull,(Mr & Mrs P & C Busson) 3-years-9-month old upstanding white bitch. Another statuesque bitchwith a feminine head, gentle profile with a good finish. Good depth and fill would prefer more with to muzzle. Keen in eye,would prefer ears more on top. Mouth level. Long reach of neck, straight front, good bone, feet could be tighter. Deep brisket good spring of rib and tuck up. moderate length of back. Stands four-square holding a level top-line. Moves reasonably well, with drive. Very well-handled.

1. Romagna Rumour Has It,(Mr & Mrs M & Y Morgans) Almost 8-year old white bitch. Lovely bitch of quality. Good head with width, depth and fill. Ears right on top and well-placed dark eye. Strong neck, good straight front with ample bone, good depth and spring of rib, moderate length of back with well angulated rear quarters, good tail-set. Moved well in front a tad close behind. Shown and presented well, she thoroughly enjoyed her time back in the ring.
